Russia Plans To Increase Agricultural Imports From Uruguay

The strong bilateral trade relationship between Russia and Uruguay is on the verge of becoming stronger and broader thanks to a variety of agribusiness exports.
“Russia and Uruguay have agreed to enhance Russian imports of agricultural products and foodstuffs,” according to the announcement today from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry’s press release highlights the US$356 million worth of goods that Uruguay currently exports to Russia, a figure that will undoubtedly rise as Uruguay exports more fresh and frozen beef, milk products and wine to Russian ports.

With the announcement, Uruguay is also expected to begin exporting fruit, vegetables, citrus and fish to Russia.

In return, Russian companies are expected to increase their investments across a variety of sectors where Uruguay is actively encouraging foreign investment specifically renewable energy, infrastructure and transportation, according to RIA Novosti.  (Full Story)
